UFO Progress

As this week/month finishes up, I am almost at my goal for finishing up two nagging UFO’s.  One is an Entrelac Baby Blanket (baby is due Nov. 16th), the other is a sleeve for a sweater to hang in the shop.  I’ll be glad when Thursday hits and all this emphasis w/ UFO’s is over.  I find my mind wandering to what new yarn/pattern to try out next!

Has anyone else made some headway on UFO’s this month?

Classes this Week

This week is full of new classes.  I look forward to the new “Details” classes.  Check them out on our Class page of our website.  We also have the Beaded Scarf class, Crocheted Vest and Beginning Hat Class all this week.

I have found it very interesting to read the results of the “Knitting Daily” poll on “UFO”s.  It seems the majority of knitters put their projects aside because of a needed skill / blocking or finishing.  I am trying to get as many WIP’s (Works in Progress) off my needles as possible.  Anyone else having any luck with UFO month?

Single Skein / Lorna’s Trunk Show

Last Thursday’s Single Skein Social was a tremendous success, with many new faces, and a lot of great “socializing”.  I want to extend my personal gratitude to our knitters and crocheters for an awesome evening.  Our next scheduled Single Skein Social is on December 6th.  Mark your calendars now.  We hope to have some great stocking stuffers to offer!

This Thursday, October 18th begins our “Lorna’s Laces” Trunk Show.  The concept of this showing is sock patterns you can knit up using a single skein of Shepherd Worsted yarn.  We will also have some great patterns for the Shepherd Sock yarn also.  The trunk show will be from Thursday the 18th – through – Sunday the 21st.  Stop by and take a look at some of the new sock patterns.

Spinning Demonstration

October is National Spinning and Weaving Month.  By Hand Yarn is celebrating this with an Spinning Demonstration at the store.  Lynette Eads will be at the store this Saturday,  October 6th @10:30 a.m.  She will have Alpaca, Wool, Bamboo, Silk and Hemp fibers to spin.  Drop on by and check it out.

Yarn, Yarn, Yarn

We’ve gotten over 20 boxes of new yarn in less than a week.  We are scrambling trying to find room for it all.  There are numerous GREAT markdowns.  Just yesterday I put some handyed, superwash, worsted weight, arigated yarns on sale.  The onesies basket (40% off) has Noro and Manos in it.  Come check it out and help us clear shelf space for the new yarns!  Candace

Help!!!

I don’t know what I am doing with this BLOG thing. I am going to give it a try though.  Hang in there and we’ll all figure it out together.
