Ms. True Love Fiber

Ms. True Love Fiber

Many hours at the retreat were spent winding yarn.  Above is a photo of Angela, a.k.a. True Love Fiber.  On the swift and foreground are just a few of her hand-dyed yarns that retreat attendees bought.

Also photoed are Deb and Rinice, our in house dynamic duo on the swift and winder.

Hi Pat!

Hi Pat!

By Hand Yarn held its second annual retreat at the Silver Ridge House this past weekend.  We had a lot of knitting, laughs, knitting, friendship, knitting, food, and knitting.   What we didn’t get enough of was Pat or SLEEP!

Stay tuned for more pictures later in the week.

Lorna's Sock - Clara's Garden

Lorna's Sock - Clara's Garden

I want to wish everyone a great Labor Day Weekend.  The store will be open all weekend including Labor Day from 10:30 – 5:30.

Why the picture?  What does it have to do with Labor Day?  Nothing!  We just got new Lorna’s sock yarn in and I LOVE this color.  I believe one of the baby knitting projects I need to do will be made out of this yarn/color.  (I hope one of my Niece’s has a girl.)

Changing Seasons

August 31, 2009 · 5 Comments

I know its still hot out, but with September here, it sure seems like fall is in the air.   The Labor Day weekend used to signify the beginning of school, new clothes, classes and teachers.  For me it now means new yarns!   Some of these yarns were ordered six months ago, so it truely is a suprise when they come in.

All this being said, I also get itchy to try a new pattern.  Today I shall ponder a new knitting project for the Labor Day weekend.

Lucky Number 7 Drawing

August 24, 2009 · 2 Comments

For those of you wondering about the drawing from the sale weekend, we have not drawn the receipt yet.

It seemed to me we should have a third party that is not part of the store do the drawing. We will have Rebecca draw the lucky winner at about 10:30 this morning.

Small World

August 11, 2009 · 10 Comments

As many of you know, I am in Kentucky getting my son settled at college. Today I happened to meet the parents of a student from Vermont and we start talking… It turns out they make spinning wheels.(Very nice high end ones) The rest of the conversation was about yarn! It made me a little homesick for the store though. I look forward to being back in the store next week.
