Super Big Weekend

The first weekend of February is HUGE at By Hand Yarn.  We have a Lorna Miser (of Lorna’s Laces fame) book signing on Saturday and a single skein social on Sunday.  Here are the details:

Saturday, Feb. 5th 4:00 – 7:00.  Lorna Miser will begin with a presentation, talking about handpainted yarns.  Her new book ‘Knitting with Handpainted Yarns’ will be available for purchase and signing.

Sunday, February 6th 1:00-4:00.  We will have our Valentine themed single skein social.  We will have new patterns available and 10% off yarns for single skein projects.

Super Big, Super Fun Time!

Pay It Forward/Hats for Hope

Today I was in the drive-thru line at Starbucks. When I pulled up to the window, I was told the person before me paid for my drink. Wow. I had never had this happen before. How nice. I wondered out loud “did I know that person”? No. It was just a random act of kindness. So…I did the same for the car in line behind me. Made. My. Day.
Giving feels good.
You too can give. By Hand Yarn has just the opportunity. Between now and Feb. 28th we are collecting as many hand knit/crocheted hats as we can. They will be distributed locally to Cancer Center, Birth Center and a Shelter.
Knitting hats is a great way to use up old odds and ends of yarn. We will take all sizes.
This past Saturday (Jan. 8th) we had a knit-in at the store to kick of  the  hats for hope. The store was full, and we now have 14 hats!
